The USS Denver did revenue service duty for many years. Badly damages in Galveston hurricane of 1900 and determined it was unfit for further military service. Sold to company that converted it to a tugboat. Abandoned in 1930 and sank at dock in 1932. Raised and scrapped in 1933.
