Original oil painting 36 wide x 19 high by artist Richard Lawler.
During the Spanish American War in 1898, it was in vogue for millionaires to loan their yachts to the US Navy for war service for the duration of the war. Flager loaned the "Seminole" to the US Navy who installed 3- 2inch guns, search light platform and rear steering platform on Flagler's yacht. The war lasted 3 months. The US Navy demilitarized the yacht and returned it to Flagler. In 1922, the " Seminole" was heavily damaged in a fire in the engine room causing heavy damage to the 30 year old yacht. It was determined that due to age the yacht was too old to be repaired. It was scrapped in Miami in 1923.
