Painting of RMS Lusitania leaving New York pilot boat on May 1, 1915 just a few days before she was sunk on May 5,1915 by the Uboat U20, 5 miles off the "Head of Old Hinsale" Ireland. There was great loss of life including American Millionaire Alfred Vanderbilt. The ship sank in 18 minutes raising the question whether the cargo contained munitions (it was illegal to carry munitions on passenger liners). British government denied rumors but 80 years later the government admitted it did have munitions aboard.
